AI tools have integrated into our classrooms whether we want them to or not. As teachers, we need to embrace, not demonize, AI by teaching our students how to use these tools ethically and responsibly. AI is able to work with you, not against you, as a writing tutor to help students gain valuable feedback. This does not replace you as the teacher or the peer review process, but rather gives students another tool to examine and improve upon their writing. By teaching students how to use the tool, you are teaching them how to apply feedback they receive and ask additional questions. I have been implementing AI writing tutors in my classroom (along with peer and teacher reviews) and have seen student writing improve dramatically. Tools examined in this session will include ChatGPT and MagicSchool. Tool familiarity is not required! You will need a laptop/Chromebook for this session.
